Wake Up To Dynah

You know what it’s like to come across a CD that you can’t get enough of? Well “Wake” by Dynah is one that I’ve been listening to over and over. Dynah is an Austin Brit-pop band with influences of Radiohead, Depeche Mode, and New Order.

My favorite song on this record is Promise but that’s followed closely by Try & Fail, How To, and Frames. In fact, there’s not a bad song here at all. The other tracks are: The Scene, Mistakes, Wake Me, and Now. Wake may be considered an EP, but is the length of a full LP.

I found out about Dynah from a sampler CD included in the latest issue of Texas Music magazine. I’ve yet to see them live, so I can’t write about that yet.

Make sure to check out Dynah’s website, and pick up Wake at CDBaby or iTunes.

Horseshoes & Hand Grenades

Check out the new CD, Horseshoes and Hand Grenades by Trent Summar & The New Row Mob. It has some really great songs. Favorites of mine are the title track “Horseshoes & Hand Grenades” and “Love You”. The later is cowritten by Trent Summar, but you may have heard the version currently out by Jack Ingram. While Trent is a Nashville artist, he has a Texas music sound. All songs are cowritten by Trent except the unique rendition of George Jones’ “He Stopped Loving Her Today”.

Viva! Terlingua! Nuevo!

Palo Duro Records recently released the CD “Viva! Terlingua! Neuvo! (Songs of Luckenbach Texas)”. It’s a live recording of various Texas artist performing 14 songs from the 1970′s era written by artists Gary P. Nunn, Ray Wylie Hubbard, Guy Clark, Jerry Jeff Walker, and Townes Van Zandt. There are recognizable favorites such a “Sangria Wine” performed by Two Tons of Steel, “London Homesick Blues” performed by The Derailers with Gary P. Nunn, and “Red Neck Mother” performed by Cory Morrow.

Well, it turns out you may not be able to get this CD if you don’t have it already, because Jerry Jeff has filed a lawsuit claiming copyright infringement. You can read the response from Palo Duro Records here. I didn’t see any mention on his website.

This is really good CD, hopefully it gets resolved so that it will still be available.

Welcome

Welcome to the RadioTex blog. RadioTex has been my webcast hosted on Live365.com for the past 5 years, playing a variety of music from Texas artists. Due to time and costs, I’ve decided to suspend that for awhile and try this blog where I’ll have reviews of Texas Music and things related or not.

So, to get things started, may I recommend Gruene With Envy to hear some Texas music?
